Hiking Mt Elbert - The Highest Peak in the Rockies

This episode covers my summit of Mt. Elbert in Colorado from the North Trailhead. Mt. Elbert is the highest peak in the Rockies, reaching 14,433 ft above sea level. This was my first attempt at a 14er.

Mount Elbert is the highest summit of the Rocky Mountains, the highest point in the U.S. state of Colorado, and the second-highest summit in the contiguous United States.

This video shows us parking near the Half Moon west Campground since the road expansion work up to the trailhead wasn't yet completed. We hiked the extra mile up to the Mt Elbert northern approach trailhead to begin our Mid-September day hike of the tallest 14er in Colorado and the Rockies and the second-highest point in the lower 48 states.

Although it is one of the highest, it is also one of the best for beginners as it tends to be more gradual and most sections are not very technical. It is one of the easiest 14ers in Colorado.
