Today’s highlight is a win for Taiwan and a loss for China. So what happened? Well, it’s a rare opportunity for global diplomacy. Biden invites Taiwan to the list of participants at the long planned Democracy Summit in the US. The Chinese Communist Party is angry that Taiwan is invited. Yet, as we will discuss, we cannot do much about it. Tonight we also discuss how a series of recent diplomatic events may be shaping the future of the US and China relationship. In particular in Taiwan. After an EU country set an example against the Chinese Communist Party’s coercive diplomacy; and the US-led the democracy summit that Taiwan is invited to. In both cases, Beijing can only sit on the sidelines and watch.
