Clashes break out at march calling for Castillo’s impeachment in Lima

Clashes broke out as hundreds of opposition supporters took to the streets of Lima on Saturday in a march to demand the impeachment of President Jose Pedro Castillo.

Castillo, who has been in government for just over 100 days, is facing a presidential vacancy motion for "moral incapacity." A presidential impeachment would require at least 52 votes from the 130 legislators in Congress.

According to local media, the motion filed by Peruvian right-wing parties alleges Castillo seeks personal gain through his position in power and is a 'dangerous' person for democracy.
