60+ Year old Cold Chisel [Amazing Restoration]

In this video I restore a Cold Chisel that his been in my family for a very long time. I have been restoring old stuff for years and I love it but this has been a crazy learning experience about learning how to film the restorations. I thank you for your patience and support as I learn the craft of restoration filming.

I started out with removing the loose surface rust using a wire brush with hopes I would be able to read the Stamped in label but alas time had done it's damage and the stamping was unreadable. I then used a rust removal technique called Electrolysis which was very effective and satisfying. I started to sand the chisel by hand but after far to much time it became apparent that more power was needed.

Once the sanding was complete I squared off the edge and reshaped the bevel using a file.

I then used a technique called cold bluing which helps to prevent future corrosion. I was not happy with the bluing agent and will be using different stuff in the future as the results were in my opinion sub par.

You will see that there is still some pitting in the steel as It was quite deep and I did not want to remove any more material then necessary.

Let me know if you would like to see more bluing videos or polishing videos in the future.

Thank you for your love and support as we go on this restoration journey together.
