The Holy Spirit is not an "idea". He is not an impersonal power, influence, force or feeling. The Holy Spirit is a Divine Person sent by God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. The person of the Holy Spirit is given to those who obey God by believing on His Son Jesus Christ and following Him. The Holy Spirit is the promise of the Father and the promise of Jesus to His disciples. The Holy Spirit is the Paraclete, the one called alongside to help the disciples of Jesus Christ live in this world. The Holy Spirit is Jesus, in His invisible, unlimited form. The Holy Spirit is God at work in this world. The Holy Spirit is the Divine Person with whom we must deal in the New Covenant. In the Old Covenant God was external to the people and they worshipped and served Him by way of a written code. In the New Covenant God is internal to the people and they serve Him in the new way of the Spirit.
