First Comers & Earliest Colonies

This video is the fourth installment in the US History series, but it includes footage I captured from the very beginning of my travels to historical sites earlier this year. I thought it would be most fitting to edit this video on the 400th anniversary of the first Thanksgiving feast shared among the pilgrims of the Plymouth colony, the 53 survivors of the voyage to the New World and harsh New England winter, and the local Wampanoag tribe.

Here are the locations I documented, in order of appearance in the video: Fray Marcos de Niza Monument in Lochiel, AZ Roanoke Colony in the Outer Banks of NC Fort Caroline in Jacksonville, FL Jamestown Settlement in Virginia Plymouth Colony in Massachusetts Tumacacori National Park in Southern Arizona Hickory Ridge History Museum in Boone, NC

Many thanks to the musicians who have contributed to this soundtrack - listed in order the songs appear within this video: Musica Reservata - Italian dance music from the 16th century (track taken from a 1971 album) Seven Times Salt Maddy Prior & the Carnival Band The Artists of Gourd Music - from the compilation titled "Kingdom Come" (featuring Kim Robertson and Shelley Phillips, among others).

And a hearty thanks for watching. I pray this video is a blessing to you and God bless America.
