Bottomless Planters in Comparison to Raised Beds

Bottomless planter, baseless plant pots, and sunken planters are an interesting alternative to traditional wood-frame raised beds. They share the same primary advantage: as a way to start a garden even when your existing garden soil won't support the plants of your choice. Other advantages: fewer weeds, warmer soil earlier in the season, and improved working height. The reason I prefer the bottomless planters these days is because wood-framed raised beds will rot over time when exposed to soil moisture. Pots and planters are easy to obtain, can be sized to fit a single shrub or tree - or larger mixed groupings of annuals, veggies, perennials, grasses or vines.
