We did not expect to hear much about the game before hand, and the internet was not nearly like it is today. News traveled slower 20 years ago. But when we heard the playoff games had been cancelled, we understood that something different was taking place. Remember this was pre 9/11, school shootings were random and isolated at best. This was the beginning of a new wave of homicidal tendencies and senseless destruction.
