A paper published years ago says this building was built without proper design, & they kept changing design while building it, as like Deng Xiaoping's famous statement: "Crossing the river by touching the stones."
深圳賽格大廈5月18日突然發生晃動，相隔兩天，5月20日12時30分左右多再次發生搖晃，商戶表示在35樓、55樓、60樓等多個樓層再次感受到晃動。為何沒有地震大樓會搖晃？有網友翻出華中科技大學一篇20年前論文，作者竟然「神預言」大樓早晚出事，原因是當年賽格大廈建設中疑似存在部分問題。
根據《紅星新聞》報導稱，該碩士論文研究主題是《深圳賽格廣場建設項目評析》，內文稱賽格大廈當年是邊施工邊修改設計，先施工後設計，設計圖沒做完就開始施工等問題。最嚴重的問題就是樓頂天線震蕩，封頂之後發現這個問題，把天線鋸掉一截又補上一截。
