Speaking of Mother’s love, Heartdwellers Ghana has taken on the task of raising funds for Joey, who is our community mechanic. I shared his story and message with you guys in the Letter to a Grieving Husband. It has now been 5 months since this father of four lost his wife suddenly. She went to the hospital because of a blood clot, and they were able to give her medication and said she was fine. She called the following morning to ready to be picked up and when he arrived at the hospital, they said she was dead. Just like that, they never called him, didn’t warn him but said she died of a brain aneurism. So, imagine a father going to pick up his wife from the hospital and arriving to only find out she died. A prominent Lawyer actually is taking his case because they feel there is some negligence involved and they never called to tell him.

He has four beautiful children, Jessica, who is the youngest, was 5 when I met her, but now is 7. She is so spunky, huggable, and lovable. When I first met her, I spent time with her and her siblings teaching them about Jesus. She then asked me,” Can you stay and be our babysitter?” I laughed and told her no, that I had to go and live on the mountain, but I would be back from time to time to see them.

Then there is Isabella who is beautiful with piercing eyes and is 11years of age and even a mature character. She mothers the younger ones so well.

Then the only boy, Jeffery who is 8 yrs. of age, is feisty as any boy should be and loves his Father.

Lastly is Jazmeen, who is the oldest, age 14, who has now had to become the mother to her younger siblings.

After receiving that message from Jesus to Joey, he put it on my heart to get gifts for the children. I was inspired to get a little teddy bear with the mother’s picture on it and a personal message for each child. When I was doing the oldest girl’s bear, whom I had never met yet, out of all the siblings I heard immediately, “I called Her Pooh bear, Call her Pooh Bear”. That startled me as I looked at the cursor on my computer blinking waiting for me to type the custom message, so I put, “You Will Always Be My Pooh Bear”.

Once the bears came, two of my brothers in the community, and myself, went to visit Joey and drop the gifts off. He was hurting pretty bad and broke down saying he had never prayed more than he did these past months. I gave all the children the bears as the youngest one broke down crying and I held her in my arms. I then asked if the mom called anyone Pooh Bear and the oldest, whom I was just meeting for the first time, pointed to herself. I was in shock! I told her what happened and gave her the bear as she shrieked, “Oh my God, Oh My God!’ This is so weird, Oh my God!” Mind you, they haven’t been raised Christian. She was so dumbfounded (as I was too) and amazed at God’s mercy and the move of the Holy Spirit. She mentioned that for all her birthdays the mom would get Winnie the Pooh stuff and always called her Pooh Bear. She had pictures she wanted to show me from her first birthday where everything was decorated Sith Winnie the Pooh. She was so comforted—and the family now realized God had entered their homes and their lives even in this situation.

I tell you all of this because the Lord is asking us to do a GoFundMe campaign for this family. Joey is a young father and a mechanic and would work hours on end to support the family, while his wife watched and raised the kids. Now with the wife gone, he has 4 young children not only to raise, but to provide for, and things are getting really tight for him. He has no one to watch them so he can’t really work. He is also trying to legally adopt Isabella who is stepdaughter, but he has raised her since she was 2yrs old and is her father. Now, with this wife’s passing, there is a legal battle, and the lawyer is expensive. So, if you guys could not only pray for Joey and his four precious ones but please donate to help him provide for these children. All donations will go 100% to him and we want the children to have a wonderful Thanksgiving and even a blessed Christmas.
