what is marketing in business

Developing a really great pain-solving product or service that you want to offer in your online business really is just the first part of the equation.

The second part is telling your target audience -- the sub-market or special interest group of people that you want to serve and work with in your online business -- that your pain-solving product or service exists.

And this is where marketing comes in. Marketing is simply the strategies, approaches, and methods you use in your online business to connect with the audience you seek to serve. And of course as you might guess, there are plenty of approaches, methods, and strategies you can use to do this.

On a fundamental level, your marketing efforts really boil down to communication. No matter what strategies, social media platforms, methods, or tactics you might decide to use, really what you need to do is communicate to your target audience in their language...in words and phrases they do.

You could say that effective marketing is the ability to define your audience's pains, problems, challenges, and issues better than your competition can.

From your audience's perspective, it can seem like you're somehow magically reading their mind -- you're taking the words and phrases they're already thinking right out of their head, and telling them about it...you're telling them what they're already thinking.

But of course, you aren't mind-reading. You're simply using the words, phrases, and language that your in-depth market research has uncovered...and you're putting it all into your marketing materials (again, whatever strategies and methods you choose to use).

So, all your marketing as to do is articulate what your potential customers are already thinking better than anyone else can.
