This is the moment a teenager with additional needs celebrated after he was crowned homecoming king.

Teldrick Alberecq, 18, who has Down syndrome, is extremely popular at school and was overjoyed with classmates at Lancaster High School awarded him the honour.

It came after the teen mounted a campaign, just like his other students.

His adoptive mum, Kim Alberecq, 42, helped Teldrick make poster boards, and think of other ideas to persuade his fellow students to cast him their vote.

And, on the night of prom, his hard work and optimism paid off when he was crowned senior year's homecoming king in front of the entire school.

In the videos, filmed by mum Kim, Teldrick can be seen jumping up and down with excitement upon hearing the news that he'd won the title.

As he tears up the dancefloor surrounded by his entire year group, his friends and teachers are there to celebrate with him.
