In our bodies, there are two classification of muscles. We have fast and slow twitch muscles fibers. Fast twitch has to with movement of the body, while slow twitch has to do with posture of the skeleton. More specifically, we have prime movers and postural muscles. Interestingly and paradoxically, the small or postural muscles are the generals of the body that tell the brain how to take command of the prime movers i.e. the soldiers. The smaller muscles have many of what is termed spindle cells which is in charge of sending muscle stretch signals to the brain so that is can make an intelligent decision on positioning and recruitment of larger muscles.
