8/30/2021: Mark Sexton Interviews Dr. Michael Lauzardo, who is representing the UF College of Medicine in his answers and comments.

Mark Sexton is the Communications Director for Alachua County government. Mr. Sexton asks Dr. Lauzardo to respond to community concerns and questions about the safety and effectiveness of Covid-19 vaccines.

"We know that some of you are still not convinced. If you have an open mind, this video is for you. It tackles just about every reason why some are still vaccine hesitant. It features Dr. Michael Lauzardo, Deputy Director of the Emerging Pathogens Institute and Director of UF Health's Screen, Test, & Protect COVID Program. He is a practicing physician and epidemiologist in the UF College of Medicine.

A graduate of the UF College of Medicine, Dr Lauzardo has been involved in public health, teaching, and patient care at the University of Florida, College of Medicine since 1997. Trained as an internist, epidemiologist, and pulmonologist, throughout his career he has been involved in the clinical care of patients with tuberculosis.
In 2012, he was named Chief of the Division of Infectious Diseases and then in 2019 stepped down to become the Deputy Director of the Emerging Pathogens Institute where he directs global health efforts for the Institute."

- He has a Bachelor’s of Science degree from the University of Miami
- A Medical Doctorate from the University of Florida
- He did his Residency in Internal Medicine at the Carolinas Medical Center
- He has a Fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine University of Florida and
- A Master's in Epidemiology from the University of London, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine
