The love statues are located in a small country called Georgia in eastern Europe (northern Turkey) on the Black Sea in the city of Batumi. Apparently, the greatest love stories are the ones that have never been lived.
This 8 meter tall steel sculpture made in 2010 is not only an incredible example of mechanics and design, but also a representation of impossible love. The structure symbolizes the story of Ali and Nino, two lovers from different religious backgrounds. It was this love that inspired Georgian artist Tamara Kvesitadze to create her sculpture in motion. Giant metal art, also known as the “Statue of Love”.
Every day at 7 pm, the two figures slide towards each other, kissing and then pulling away and never getting together, representing the war.
