Shortages in medicines are already showing up at local pharmacies. According to this report from Austin, Texas, the FDA currently lists over 200 medications are on backorder.

Medical shortages occur for a number of reasons. It takes months-to-years to plan for and produce a single medicine as the production schedule is very complex.

“Now imagine if mass layoffs or walkouts occur in any or all industries. Imagine if a cold war occurs between China and any other nation. There are any number of scenarios that could intensify that perfect storm.”
