πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈHappy Veterans Day to all courageous defenders of freedom and liberators of the oppressed. Thank you for protecting our great nation and proliferating its ideals across the globe with your humanity and compassion.
➑️World War II veteran - Paul Brown- was assigned to liberate the Dachau concentration camp in the Spring of β€˜45. In this short clip he describes a first encounter with an emaciated prisoner: β€œAre you an American?” the haggard man asked feebly.
β€œYes, I am.”
β€œThank God,” he wept, falling to his knees.

To the veterans who might be disheartened by the inexplicably chaotic Afghanistan withdrawal know this:
✨You embody a brand of hope that cannot be sullied by the poor leadership and missteps of the current administration. You are propelled by the transcendent ideology of inalienable human rights that makes you an emblem of hope and safety worldwide. When Americans and collaborators were left behind under Taliban rule, many of you organized and risked your lives to rescue them. A shattered man in Dachau knew that β€œAmerican” was synonymous with β€œDeliverance” and Afghan women handed their babies over a barbed wire fence, to you. β€οΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ
