Brain implant allows paralyzed man to write his thoughts with 94% accuracy

In a sea of bad news, here's a much-needed ray of light. A new brain implant looks set to transform the lives of many paralyzed people, by allowing them to accurately communicate in writing. The implant, called a Brain Computer Interface, uses AI to decipher the brain activity generated during handwriting. A quadriplegic man was asked to mentally 'write' something down, and the device was able to translate the thoughts to letters with a stunning 94% accuracy.

While the team behind the implant have stressed their invention is still in its 'proof of concept' stage, it could turn out to be a phenomenal step forward in improving the lives of paralyzed people, with more users set to 'test drive' it soon.
