Emile Smith Rowe's first senior England call-up has been hailed by Ian Wright, who believes the youngster's stratospheric ascent with Bukayo Saka is'so exciting' for Arsenal.

Despite a strong start to the season with Arsenal, Smith Rowe, 21, was left out of Gareth Southgate's first 25-man squad for England's World Cup qualifiers against Albania and San Marino.

Smith Rowe, who has three goals in his previous three league games, was promoted from the Under-21s when Marcus Rashford and James Ward-Prowse were ruled out due to illness, and the offensive midfielder might make his Wembley debut on Friday.

The Three Lions, who finished second at Euro 2020 in the summer, need four points from their next two matches to secure a place in Qatar 2022.

'We've got to speak about Emile Smith Rowe and his ascension, his emergence in the world now, into the England squad,' Wright stated on Ringer FC's Wrighty's House podcast.

'If you spoke to him last season when he was in and out just before he exploded onto the scene, all he said was, "I just want to be consistent and score more goals."

When you compare what he stated at the time to what he's doing today, you'll see that he's actually doing it.

'What I'm ecstatic about is that he received this enormous contract, for a lot of money, and it hasn't phased him in the least.' 'Wow, that's a great sign.' People aren't aware of this.

There is a drop-off in certain players since they have gained comfort and can now have whatever they want. So you notice that something softens somewhere along the way.

'It's not the same with him, and it's not the same with Saka.' They aren't influenced and are only interested in achieving achievement. Arsenal fans are ecstatic.'

Arsenal are on a ten-match unbeaten record in all competitions, and Wright is hoping their good form can continue after the international break.

'I'm absolutely overjoyed.' All of the events are beginning to age gracefully,' he remarked.
'I adore Mikel [Arteta] and want him to keep doing what he's doing.'

All they want is for Mikel to keep going. 'We're fifth now, and things are looking good, so let's keep doing what we're doing so we can just live.' Allow it to live!'

Arsenal has a busy and demanding few weeks ahead of them in the Premier League, beginning with a trip to Liverpool the next weekend.

Arteta's side will play Eddie Howe's Newcastle at the Emirates before meeting Manchester United at Old Trafford.
