Two years after a wildfire burned more than 35,000 acres in eastern Oregon, the BLM continues efforts to rehabilitate the landscape.

The Cherry Road Fire quickly became the state’s largest wildfire in August of 2016, burning large swaths of brush and grass near the Owyhee Reservoir and Idaho state line.

The area is important habitat for sagebrush-dependent animals like the greater sage grouse. The goal is to control the emergence of cheatgrass and medusahead while restoring lost sagebrush habitat
