Get out and live and dump the blue flu

My wife and I had tickets to see Cheap Trick. Had them for a very long time. After two cancellations we finally took a refund. We had hoped to see them again. We saw them in Colorado at Red Rocks. I always laughed at the fact that I had taken her to see that last band where adult women still screamed with adoration. She was pregnant with our first and it was really nice to also see the Kinks that same night. When I went to Colorado Academy and had a band there in the sixth grade. We did all kinds of songs and my wife actually got to hear us because my father had recorded us. What still amuses me is that I really had my first brush with social pressure in that band. My hair had gotten to be a bit long. Terrifying... it was a tad over my collar. I was told I needed a hair cut by a guy that played lead and sang. He then pointed to Ray Davies and said that the Kinks had threatened to throw him out of the band if he didn’t get a haircut. I learned to ignore things like that and still do. Ray Davies was the one that wrote pretty much everything for the Kinks so I laughed inside. I loved many years later seeing Vann Halen and an airborne David Lee Roth doing ‘You Really Got Me”

We finally got to go to a concert on Oct 23 2021. My wife and I hadn’t seen Blue Oyster Cult since Jimmy’s live music club in New Orleans in the late 80's. That was when they’d just released ‘Imaginos’ I still remember that night well. Buck Dharma and Eric Bloom were in the limo watching me as I came out of Jimmy’s with my adorable wife and laughed as I handed her my keys while giving them a thumbs up. I always loved the name Buck Dharma. That’s not his real name. Dharma for those who don’t know, is a Hindu word for personal responsibility. It was a band that drew me into al kinds of interests. I had hoped they would do Dominance and Submission tonight, but they didn’t. That is a song that describes where we all are quite well. They did do Don’t Fear the Reaper however. That song came out right about the time we got engaged, which was on our second date and we were married three months later. That was in 77. So that kind of made it my song for us. Below I mention the song we both chose as ours. Fortunately we live in a state that we helped to turn red. Everything is starting to return to some semblance of normal. No mask or vax mandates here. Go look at Swedens or South Dakotas stats and see what happens when you live in a state that is free and not run by a clueless nanny collective. Then if possible try to get out with your money and belongings and go somewhere safe.

I didn’t put up any of their music in full because I really don’t like to let people steal. One thing that I laughed at and loved this evening was Buck Stepping out on stage and waving “Hi!” and then plugging in. It’s a friendly guy next door starting his lawnmower so he can get to work he loves. It was a great show as always and they’re still really tight.

By the way he can still tear it up. He smoked that fret board. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wU33z7u6jIs

There is one song out of the past my wife and I agree is def our song. First time we heard it we laughed and said “Yup! So true!” Falling in love and acting on it is a jump off of a cliff promising to catch each other on the way down. Make that a careful choice because there be consequences. No matter what, the story always ends with boy loses girl or girl loses boy. Marriage isn’t a destination, it’s a journey with your best friend. My wife said pretty early on, if both of you agree with each other all of the time one of you is unnecessary. Anyway this is THAT song. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=clOORcEPS9M
