Challenge Yourself, Improve Your Vision
If you’re looking to beat the social media blues, challenge yourself. Whether it’s a freelance photography gig or creating a photo book of your work, taking on a big project can give your work great meaning compared to snatching attention on social media.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m a fan of social media and it's given me tremendous opportunities.
However, my editor and I thought a street portrait project in Cochise County would add great value to my work and his newspaper. Hence, the ‘Faces of Cochise County’ project was born. In the journalism world reporters typically sit down with community members when they achieved something great or they’re involved with a conflict/controversy. But this project is a conversation for the sake of it, highlighting everyday people with fascinating stories. Although this idea has been done in other locales, I’m honored to launch it in Southern Arizona.
So get out there and challenge yourself. Take on some healthy stress and see how it can transform your work.
Until next time, I’ll see you in the streets.
