how to overcome challenges in small business

Online is obviously the way to go with business right? Especially after everything that's gone down in 2020. But depending on the kind of business you want to run, there are still some challenges with going entirely online, right?

So let's drag some of this stuff into the light and see if there are any creative solutions we can come up with to solve some of the challenges...and even disadvantages of online business...and maybe even turn them into unbeatable advantages.

So ask yourself, what sucks about buying online? Three biggies right off the top of my head are, not being able to physically handle a product before purchasing...

...that is, not being able to see for yourself it's physical dimensions, not being able to touch and handle it, and maybe not being able to try it out first (say, like trying on a pair of shoes or an article of clothing) first.

That's one problem. Another challenge is, waiting for your darn order to ship. We all HATE waiting for our stuff to arrive, right? And lastly, if what we've ordered isn't going to work for us, returning it is a big hassle, isn't it?

So what are some solutions to these issues? What solutions can we come up with to overcome these hurdles? Overcoming them isn't impossible...it's simply a matter of creative problem solving.

So again, the three hurdles I came up with were not being able to see and handle a product first before purchasing it, having to wait for your order to arrive, and third, returning unwanted purchases. Big challenges, right? So what can we do to overcome these for your online business?

Do you have any ideas? Well how about this: What if you offered a full 30-day no questions asked return policy? And what if you plastered this all over your website, product pages, and order forms?

This would allow your customer to order from you with confidence, and then once they've got it, they have 30 days to handle your product, try it out for them, and see if it's gonna be good for them.

If they're not happy, they get their money back. But, it's still a hassle to return the item. So make it easy for them by including a collapsed shipping box, postage paid, with their order.

If they don't like the product, they stick it in the box and drop it in a mailbox. Now of course, the logistics of this could be tricky, but there's always a way.

And what about the problem of having to wait for their order? Again, no one likes waiting for their order to ship, right? Well, is there anything you can send them electronically right away so they can at least get started with their purchase?

Off the top of my head, if they've purchased a pair of tennis shoes from you, could you send them educational videos about how your shoes are constructed, how they perform, and so on?

Or could you send them some sort of "how-to" info that shows your customer how to use your product, the results that others have gotten, and so on? You've gotta get creative here, and if you do this...

...then this creates peace of mind for your customer, that they did indeed make a good purchase, and it creates anticipation for their order to arrive.

Now are there any other problems you can think of related to your specific online business? Take some time and sit down and really think about some creative ways that you can overcome these challenges.
