Kid Changes Oil: 2017 Jeep Renegade

I’ve shown Jake how to do an oil change in the past, but he really never did anything. It was just a show and tell. Now that he’s older and he has enough dexterity and strength in his hands to work with the tools and move around on the ground, I figured he could do the bulk of the work.

Jake asked me, “How long is this going to take? It’s Saturday, my free day.” I got a good laugh from that and replied, “What made you think Saturday was a free day?” I informed him that it can take a half hour if your good, but he’d be doing most of the work, so don’t expect it to be that quick. With filming and a little hand holding, it probably took about an hour and a half to finish the job. We had fun though, so it didn’t seem to bother him much and he got Taco Bell for a reward. It was a good day.
