Peter is impulsive in John 13 when he thinks he is ready to die for Christ. He is not, yet, ready - able to be who he yearns to be. Instead, he will, actually, deny that he knows Christ. But that is in no way the end of Peter's story. He will, indeed, become ready - become an unstoppable man of faith. In fact, Peter will write a beautiful meditation on the path of Christian maturity that is developed via endurance. He understands God's faithfulness and all that God does in and through us during the journey of becoming. Therefore, do not despise your own journey - what it is that you currently are or are not. In you, God is growing and establishing fruit that speaks not only to yourself, personally, but, also, to the entire trajectory of history. Our righteous fruit is eternal. That is the nature of God's faithfulness at work in our created-ness by Him and for Him. God bless you.
