The estate of Sergei Pavlovich von Derviz in Kiritsy

In the Ryazan region, the Shilovsky district, there is a round lake in its shape, which is called "Svyatoe". According to legend, there used to be an island in the middle of the lake, on which an ancient church stood. And so it happened that the temple went under water and now stands at the bottom of the lake. It is known that this temple was in the name of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul, therefore, every year on July 12, in the celebration of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul, many people come here from nearby villages and villages to participate in the holy prayer service. Even before the revolution, there were five chapels on the shores of this wonderful Holy Lake, one from each village.

It has no inflowing streams, rivers or other tributaries, it feeds on springs. The water in the lake is constantly clean and transparent and never blooms. According to various sources, the maximum depth of this lake is about 27-29 meters. Studies have shown that a meteorite fell here several hundred years ago, forming a funnel.
