what is the importance of content marketing to businesses

Genuinely HELP your potential customers and the audience of people you're seeking to attract. Provide them with honest, valuable, insightful material FIRST, before you EVER ask them for anything in return. Why? The reasons are numerous.

First, it's a kind act of generosity. You've got all this accumulated knowledge. You know SO MUCH about your market, their concerns, and so on. It's EASY for you to help them. So help them!

I'm not saying work for free 24/7...no, I'm saying if you can help them with something that's a big problem, then why wouldn't you? But this does something else too -- they remember. If you genuinely care and help people, because this is sadly kinda rare, they'll remember.

So not only is it the right thing to do and an act of kindness, but it also makes you memorable. Here's another reason: If you can provide valuable, helpful content online, then it means that you can do everything we just discussed a second ago...but at scale.

Now instead of helping one person at a time, you can easily help many, many people. More than one person can read your article, listen to your podcast, or watch your videos at the same time. See back in my classroom teaching days, we were limited to about 15 people per class.

In the modern era, we can help so many more people at once! And this has a secondary effect: It begins attracting to you, to your work, to your online business, the EXACT sorts of people you want to serve and work with day in and day out.

Here's a third reason: By genuinely helping people online and not asking for anything in return, you're demonstrating your skill, expertise, and knowledge to the exact audience that you wish to work with. Think of it almost like an audition...

...you get to perform and show them how you can help them and how they can benefit from working with you...without them having to take the risk of buying first to find out. Help them out ahead of time, and they'll know right away what's in it for them.

And as I say, this is an opportunity for you to demonstrate to the sub-market, to the specialized interest group, your skill and knowledge and how they can begin working more closely with you.

Unlike other marketing methods and strategies, say like the coldness of paid advertising, what I'm suggesting here is a no-lose proposition!
