best content strategy for marketing

One way to super-charge your content marketing strategy is to pair it with a solid SEO strategy -- that is, Search Engine Optimization. Without SEO, your content marketing efforts can feel like you're just yelling into the wind.

Without SEO, it may take longer for your target audience to begin finding you and your online business, your pain-solving products, and so on. And of course, the first step in all of this is to research and identify the sorts of things your target audience is looking for.

If you can't provide for them the sorts of content they're actively searching for, then all your marketing and promotional efforts will be in vain. And as far as the sorts of content you produce, here's what a lot of websites and online marketers do:

They throw together fast, thin content that targets keywords and key-phrases in the hopes of ranking well in search engines. And you know what? It very often works. I'm sure you've seen this -- where you search for something online, and see some results...

...but the top results are short, thin articles that really don't answer your question or give you what you're after...and oftentimes, because of all the grammatical errors, you can tell that the article wasn't written by a native English speaker.

And if you see this sort of content showing up in search results in your online business's target audience...you should get very, very excited! And here's why:

Many website owners try to cheat the system, hire poor writers to create content, and essentially throw as much content as they can on their website in the hopes of ranking. And you want to know something? It's a poorly thought out short term strategy.

Here's why: It's SO EASY to outrank these sorts of thin, low quality, low value posts. If you're seeing short, thin, low quality content, all you have to do is write a more direct, more thorough, longer article.

And second, as a consumer of content, I've learned to actively AVOID certain websites, content creators, content outlets, and even YouTube channels. Their consistently low-quality content has taught me that I won't find what I'm looking for from them...so I actively AVOID them.

They taught me to avoid them! Maybe you've experienced this too. Now back on the issue of pairing SEO with your content marketing strategy, here's a final thought to keep in mind. Search engines -- really, I'm talking about Google here -- is getting better and better at finding and ranking content.

Search, and providing the best quality search results, after all, is the core of Google's business, right? And so as you begin developing your content, keep in mind that from a certain point of view, your SEO strategy should be based around what you would do if search engines didn't exist.

In other words, if search engines didn't exist, you wouldn't keyword stuff, you wouldn't buy backlinks or directory listings, you wouldn't try to cheat the system with thin, low quality content or anything like that.
