importance of content marketing for your business

One of the big benefits of using content marketing as a strategy to build your audience online and attract the sorts of people you want to work with and serve is, it lines up perfectly with Google's core business model.

Google's core mission is to provide it's users with the best possible search results for any given query...and Google's not only very, very good at this (of course!) but they're getting better and better at it and refining their search algorithm all the time.

As online business owners, this means a few things for us: First, it means that despite what online gurus might say, search and SEO isn't going anywhere. In other words, it's only going to get better and better.

This means that it's going to continue getting easier, faster, and more direct to attract and serve the exact audience we want to work with. Online search will play a big role online until something better comes along...

...and there's nothing even remotely on the horizon to challenge Google's core business. And so further, this means that content marketing itself is a powerful, long-term strategy that has a lot of longevity and life in it. Just as with search, content marketing isn't going anywhere.

It's only going to grow more and more the coming years. This means that online business owners like you and I have an incredible opportunity. And unlike going with a paid advertising method or other strategies, it all comes at practically zero cost.

The crux of all of this though is, we must know our target market intimately. In other words, what are their problems? What do they struggle with? What sorts of questions do they want answers to? What sorts of words, phrases, and terms do they use to describe their problems, challenges, and pressing concerns?

With this research and information in hand, we can begin developing content -- content like articles, videos, blog posts, and so on -- that directly addresses their problems, concerns, and questions. And guess what happens? If we do our job well and provide great information and great content, Google then does it's job...

...it finds our content, and it begins including it in search engine results. So, while content marketing and content creation is a very powerful, long-term strategy, I urge you not to create ANYTHING until you do your market research first.
