One thing that a lot of online business owners overlook is this: Ensuring that their website renders and functions well on smartphones. I know that this adds yet another layer of complexity onto a topic that can already be kinda overwhelming...but I have good news!

First though, it's important to make sure that your business website works well for smartphone users because obviously, as I'm sure you know, the web has gone totally mobile.

Everyone's carrying the internet around in their pockets...and their smartphone is very often the primary way they connect online...or at least, it's their immediate go-to device. For these and many other reasons, your website has gotta work on mobile.

Now I promised some good news right? Well here it is: If you're using WordPress to build your business website -- and I really hope you are...it's incredibly powerful, flexible, and easy to use and can handle any kind of online business you have in mind...

...if you're using WordPress, then nearly all WordPress themes -- that is, the template that drives the formatting and layout of your website -- work and function beautifully on smart phones, tablets, and other mobile devices...and of course on laptops and desktops too.

Special rules are built into the CSS code that controls themes to detect what kind of screen size is being used to view the site...and then unique formatting instructions are then provided...

...so the same website visitor could pull your website up on their phone and on their laptop and have to completely different layouts served to them. That's how it works in a nutshell.

So most often, again if you're using WordPress, you won't have to worry too much about your business website rendering and functioning properly on different devices. This means that you can focus your attention on your customers, your products, your marketing, and other areas of your website!
