Stuck in the Briley Parkway in Nashville, Tennessee, a deer ran over a mile and jumped over the interstate wall into the Cumberland River on Tuesday (November 2).

Erin Turner and Haley Evans were on their way to work when they witnessed the deer.

Erin told Newsflare: "I was driving and we saw it happen. I told [Haley], as the deer was running, to record this because it was so crazy, and we were just in shock because as soon as we started recording, he jumped over the bridge."

The water in the Cumberland River is dark and full of ash, making it dangerous to swim in. Ash has the potential to seep below the pond, which results in groundwater contamination.

The Cumberland River's flood stage is 40 feet, and it is unknown whether the deer did or did not survive the jump.
