Peter Robinson | The United States - From Reagan to Trump
Peter Robinson is a television host, political commentator and Murdoch Distinguished Policy Fellow at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University, California, where he writes about business and politics, edits Hoover's quarterly journal, the Hoover Digest, and hosts the institute's podcast Uncommon Knowledge. He was a speechwriter for President Reagan, and helped craft the 1987 Brandenburg Gate speech.
He has written five books on American politics including How Ronald Reagan Changed My Life.
In this Direct episode, he and John discuss the effects of COVID on the outcome of the 2020 election and how the pandemic may have cost Trump's presidency, the rising threat to individual liberty and free speech in the US reflected in the polls, and Reagan's presidency; how he instilled hope for the American people and the greater world, and the qualities that are needed now in a president of the United States in a time of rising totalitarian threats.
