how to reach your customers

"If you build it they will come" is yet another myth in business that really needs to be beaten, dragged out into the street and shot dead! The thinking here is that if you create something -- anything -- then people will naturally swarm towards it.

Nothing could be further from the truth. Yet somehow, us entrepreneurs think that if we build something...then of course people will find it...even if they don't know they want it.

Sounds kinda egotistical and self-centered, doesn't it? Like, "I've created this amazing thing...so of course everyone will want it." See the problem here?

While this might be true for baseball fields in the movies, it's definitely not true in the real world or for online business. Simply building an online business and expecting immediate sales is a recipe for disaster.

In fact, getting your business online and your website built is really just the first part. The second part is bringing people -- specifically, the sorts of people you want to serve, your target audience -- to your website.

How do you do this? Well that's the real nut to crack, isn't it? Really though, there are many ways to do this. If you have the budget, you can make use of online advertising. But that can get really expensive and takes some time to really hone.

Another option might be social media. That's an okay approach, so long as your strategy is to bring people from the social media platform to your website -- that's the key.

A third option is one of my favourites, simply because it's so effective: And that's to get your company, your products, and your offers directly in front of the sorts of people you want to serve.

And you can do this by building your web pages and your website in a very specific way so that it gets picked up and placed in front of your target audience when they're online, digging for solutions to their biggest problems.
