steep learning curve
When you start out learning a new skill...maybe it's SEO, or online business, or marketing or really anything else...the learning curve is steep, right?
This is because it's totally new to you. You're venturing into the unknown. So you can't expect to be really great at it, or to learn everything you need, very quickly.
It can be frustrating. It can be hard. But interestingly, once you get to the other side of the learning curve and once you learn how to do that thing, it's now within what I call "The Realm Of Do-ability".
That is, once you learn and get good at something, it now becomes a part of your comfort zone. Or maybe said more accurately, your comfort zone expands to now encompass that new thing.
If you want to know how to build a bookcase from scratch, that might seem almost impossible. But if you go through the learning curve and learn how to do it, then it becomes "known" to you. The more you do it, the easier it gets.
This is why a plumbing or roofing emergency to you is just another "routine job" to an experienced plumber, roofer, or tradesman. They've seen it all and done it all for years and years.
So, think about the things you want to get good at: Market research, content marketing, idea validation, building websites...and anything else, really. What would it take to get there?
It always seems complex, mysterious, and even impossible at first...again because it's unknown...that is until you start climbing that learning curve.
And you know what? There's a really great side-benefit to starting an online business. And that is that you're often forced to develop a really great set of skills...things like tech skills, sales, psychology, market research, design, and more.
