B Encouraged: Saying Goodbye to a Sweet Season (11/02/2021)

In John 2, Jesus' mother encourages the final transition from their familiar (family) relationship to the next season in which he will tell folk: ", "My mother and brothers are those who hear God's word and put it into practice." This is a massive shift after a thirty year long intimate relationship. We see Mary fearlessly lean into the 'next' season, knowing that it can be frightening and alone. Her expectant stance is an encouragement to any of us finding that we are heading out of a sweet season of togetherness and into the choppy waters of greater unknowns - but obviously essential ends. The very call of Messiahship requires this transition.
