The USS Spiegel Grove (LSD-32) was a Thomaston-class dock landing ship of the United States Navy. She was named for Spiegel Grove, the home and estate in Fremont, Ohio of Rutherford B. Hayes, the 19th President of the United States. She was sunk in May of 2002 with some complications ending up upside down. In June of the same year she was turned on her Side. In July of 2005 Hurricane Dennis put her right-side up.

We were diving with Amoray Dive Resort (104250 Overseas Hwy, Key Largo, FL 33037), but because too many of their clients were not able to do the Spiegel Grove due to it's depth they set us up with Horizon Divers (105800 Overseas Hwy, Key Largo, FL 33037). Because they were sending us to another Dive Operation, Amoray sent one of their staff with us to act as our guide, and to make sure we were taken care of to their standards. If you want to go to the upper keys for a Dive Vacation we highly recommend Amoray, all of theri staff are friendly and helpful.

For The dive it was touch and go to whether we would be able to do it or not. Hurricane Elsa had passed through recently and the early reports had the mooring ball underwater from the currents. This was my fourth dive on this wreck, the other two being the previous year, and every time it has been a great dive. We always see large Angel Fish (Queen, French, and/or Grey), Reef Sharks, and tons of other life. My favorite part is the US Flag flying on her. I do have a separate video of just that if you look at my Channel.

This is an unedited video. the only thing I did was cut off the end when we were getting back to the boat.
