School Boards 4 Kids

Reed Downey and friends have created an Oklahoma organization called "School Boards 4 Kids" to help recruit, train, fund and mount campaigns for School Board candidates. Though school boards have recently become the number one nemesis for parents concerned about what is happening in their child's classroom, school board members are the elected face of the community to the school district and must respond directly to the wishes of parents, it is imperative that communities work hard to find and support candidates for school board within their district who are willing to carry the will of parents and not the district Superintendent. School Boards have ALL the power in the school, from hiring and firing the superintendent and teachers to approving - or disapproving - curricula choices being used in classrooms. These are very powerful positions which can set the trajectory of not only the community, but society as a whole by acting for what is best for students and not what is most expedient for collecting federal funds or promoting the incessantly shifting ideals of the education establishment.
