The Far Eastern or Amur leopard is considered the most peaceful of all leopards. There has not been a single case of an attack on humans throughout history, and unfortunately, this northernmost leopard subspecies is on the verge of extinction. It has long been included in the IUCN Red List, and hunting for it has been banned since 1956, but despite this, no more than 50 animals remain in nature at present. The main problem of the preservation of this rarest predator is the destruction of its habitat and incessant poaching.
