Mother cat breastfeeding her kittens

Cats are mammals which means that the mother breastfeeds her child. Once the mother cat gives birth, the kittens should immediately receive the first milk produced by the mother cat. This first feeding lasts for 12 to 24 hours.

This milk has an important nutrient called colostrum, so that newborn kittens can grow well and healthy.
