50th Golden Anniversary of the Metropolitan Cathedral of Saint Mary of the Assumption Special event. Displays had include precious art, artifacts, and historic photographs of the Archdiocese of San Francisco including historic Sacred Vestments, liturgical chalices, ciboria, patens, Holy Relics, a photograph portrait display of all nine Archbishops and photographic display of famous visitors to the Cathedral including:

+ Saint Pope John Paul II
+ Saint Mother Teresa of Calcutta
+ Venerable Servant of God Archbishop Fulton Sheen
+ Funeral Mass of Slain Mayor George Richard Moscone on December 1, 1978.
+ Archbishop John J. Mitty, of the Archdiocese of San Francisco, blesses the casket of Saint Damien of Molokoi, before it was taken to St. Mary's Cathedral on February 11, 1936 where it remained in state before proceeding to Belgium.

A special exhibit had an exact duplicate of the San Damiano Cross by the Knights of Saint Francis and an extraordinary restoration of the mahogany Canopy of our first Archbishop Joseph Sadoc Alemany.
