Bulgaria: Hospitality workers march in Sofia against new COVID health pass rule - 28.10.2021

Hunderte von Arbeitnehmern, darunter viele Restaurant- und Fitnesscenterbesitzer, demonstrierten am Donnerstag in ganz Sofia gegen die neue COVID-19-Gesundheitspassregelung.

"Ich frage mich, warum ich ohne die Bescheinigung mit der U-Bahn fahren oder die Stadtverwaltung und andere Einrichtungen besuchen kann, aber für meinen Arbeitsplatz wird sie zur Pflicht", sagte Emil Kostadinov, ein Restaurantbesitzer.

Während der Demonstration forderten die Demonstranten die Behörden auf, den obligatorischen Gesundheitspass für alle Personen abzuschaffen, die Vergnügungslokale und Restaurants betreten wollen.

Bulgarien sieht sich mit einem Anstieg der COVID-19-Infektionen und Todesfälle konfrontiert, und das bei den niedrigsten Impfraten in Europa.

Hundreds of workers, including many restaurant and fitness centre owners, marched across Sofia to protest the new COVID-19 health pass rule on Thursday.

"I'm wondering why I can travel by subway or visit the local municipality and other institutions without the certificate, but it becomes compulsory for my workplace," said Emil Kostadinov, a restaurant owner.

During the demonstration, protesters demanded that authorities abolish the mandatory health pass on all people seeking to enter indoor entertainment venues and restaurants.

Bulgaria is facing a surge in COVID-19 infections and deaths amid the lowest vaccination rates in Europe.

Cientos de trabajadores, entre ellos muchos propietarios de restaurantes y gimnasios, se manifestaron el jueves por toda Sofía para protestar contra la nueva norma de la tarjeta sanitaria COVID-19.

"Me pregunto por qué puedo viajar en metro o visitar el ayuntamiento y otras instituciones sin el certificado, pero es obligatorio para mi lugar de trabajo", dijo Emil Kostadinov, propietario de un restaurante.

Durante la manifestación, los manifestantes exigieron a las autoridades que supriman la tarjeta sanitaria obligatoria para todas las personas que quieran entrar en locales de ocio y restaurantes cerrados.

Bulgaria se enfrenta a un aumento de las infecciones y muertes por COVID-19 en medio de las tasas de vacunación más bajas de Europa.
