Isaiah Meanderings (8): Ch 5 ii/ii - Lying Privileged Persons Brought Down

Revisiting the second half of Isaiah 5 we see that God will not allow privileged persons to hoard earthly power forever. With lies, they redefine reality, freely crushing the people about them and creating a cruel, oppressive reality. They think there is no God. They live accountable to no one. But, deceived as they are, it is not true. There is one to whom they are accountable. And, he is bringing their indulgent reign of terror to an end. They will be no more. Their privileges will be no more. They will know what it is like to live within the terror that they have created and perpetuated.
