kia ora guys, what you are witnessing is the renewal of this land, the land you were born in or chose to make your home. To be more exact, it is the reconfirmation of the Declaration of Independence signed in 1835. This document was made between the Sovereign Hapu and the King of England. The Declaration guarantees Maaori Hapu the Right of Sovereign rule, to pass Law and to meet every year at Waitangi to hold "parliament" (my word, not maaori way of doing hui) This Declaration was signed in 1835 at Waitangi, the King recognised it, it was ratified by english parliament, it is held in the eternal records, USA recognised it as did France. A gun salute was fired and the Sydney gazette printed it. Thus making it real law. The Hapu chose a flag and it was recognised as the flag of a Sovereign Nation and flew on maaori trading ships. (yes maaori had ships). What does that mean for us? Maaori are going to reclaim the Lawful Rights under the Whakaputanga, that is the maaori name for the Declaration of Independence. Maaori will "hui" meet... and work out through lots of talking how and where to next. If the agents for HER MAJESTY THE QUEEN IN RIGHT OF NEW ZEALAND CO. are watching these goings on... Understand we do not contract with your corporation. It is not Lawful and has no legal mandate. Peace Unity and Love is the "kaupapa" in english it means the roots, the mission statement. it will take a lot of new learning and tolerance. even being willing to listen, a bit of northern maaori philosophy? "you can teach a bird to talk but its still just a bird" my dad told me that regarding if you speak maaori or any other language.. its the spirt behind the words that matter... what u express there is what maaori call "aroha" english say love but in maaori it literally means "aro" to face and "haa" breath of life... when u face someone u express love. which is why masks are so important to the cult. it is the opposite of "aro-ha". there will be a great renewing of this land. Maaori hold a place , not better than or less than... equal but not the same. A very precise language more like classical greek, in the very specific pronouns. Maaori have singular, two of you Im speaking to, them , not us ect ect... defining exactly who is being addressed. Important when in legalese, the language of the legal system, who is being addressed is crucial. a lot of words are compound words that when spoken together create the understanding of the word. Rangatira in english means "chief" it is ranga - strands tira - gather together. we don't have the english version of chief as "leader", we have a man or woman that can bind us into following. which is why it looks really strange, when the media or govt try to "organise" maaori into corporations they can contract with. it also makes it hard to always agree. but another maaori saying... bit of a cliche but true... what is the greatest thing in the world? people people people. if we can truly understand each other without the agency of HER MAJESTY THE QUEEN IN RIGHT OF NEW ZEALAND CO. constantly exploiting our fears of each other, we will stand together as "kotahitanga". So it's not just another maaori protest.. it's more of an embracing what is already here. Us... one people sharing this land we were born on or have made our home called Te Moana Nui a Kiwa. and this is the flag.
