U.S. Army Sgt. Michael Heaphy, assigned to 3rd Squadron, 2d Cavalry Regiment, discusses the Infantry Mortar Leaders Course (IMLC). Members of 2d Cavalry Regiment and 173rd Airborne Brigade fired 60mm mortars with the M224A1 mortar system during the 60mm live fire portion of the IMCL at Grafenwoehr Training Area, Germany, 22 Oct. 2021. During the 5- week course, Soldiers gain the knowledge to compute fire missions by both analog and digital means, and supervise and direct high angle fires from a mortar element.
