Rejecting Jesus Messiah; Luke 4:22-30

Delivered during the Sunday morning worship service, 10/24/2021. After sharing the true mission and purpose of the Messiah, Jesus concludes His visit to the synagogue in His hometown of Nazareth by almost starting a riot. When He boldly announced that He was the Messiah, the response of the townspeople was rank unbelief and the demand for a sign of proof. Jesus not only refused to work a miracle, but responded with two illustrations from the Old Testament indicating that their self-righteous disbelief would bring God's wrath and preclude them from the Kingdom of Heaven. We will find deep Theological revelations in this text, and discuss what it tells us about God, about Christ, and about the process of salvation. All who hear this message will prayerfully heed the warning that Jesus Messiah offers the free gift of eternal salvation to those who repent and believe in Him; but eternal judgment and condemnation to those who do not-- and ignore the danger of rejecting Jesus Messiah.
