A wild dog was found with a large brown pelican, a black pit bull, a black pit bull, a yellow pit bull and a gray cat - among other rare breeds -- just under a mile from his home.

Police were called around 6 a.m. on May 14.

A search of the area by the Pet Safety Society netted two dogs. Two white domestic dogs, one white, one black and all three of the other dogs were taken by canine-intervention specialists who were looking for animals found in the past.

Officers said the suspected pit bull, a black pit bull, another brown dog, and the dog he was found were all in good health. They said the brown pit bull and the black pit bull were all under control.

Family members said the dog was taken in a "very sick place" with signs of medical issues.

An autopsy, conducted on May 16, revealed that the dog had sustained multiple injuries and the pit bull had a fractured nose.
