Cleaning a heavily polluted coastline

As we tackle plastic pollution around the world, Team Guatemala has been making huge strides on this 25-mile stretch of polluted coastline!

Back in July, we began showing you footage of this immensely polluted coastline in Guatemala. The mounds of plastic were caused by heavy inland rains, which caused trash to wash into the Motagua River, where it flowed into the ocean and back onto Guatemala's shore.

Since then, our crews have been tackling this coastline and have been making a big impact. Over 20,000 pounds of trash were collected within the first 30 days, most of which was single-use plastic.
