A Good Choice

Surrender! We in our human condition struggle with this word. It goes against our human nature, to surrender. What is your feeling about the word, surrender? Surrender, we say it, it comes off our tongue with a bitter taste because it is hard to “surrender” to let go and let God. We can get so self-assured about the way our life is going, and then we get so restless, we know in our heart God wants to change things up, yet we are resisting. To get rid of the restlessness that plagues our soul, we have to yield to God. Surrender! God wants to take us places we don’t want to go, because God Adventure can be scary to us, we don’t like change, we like to stay put in our comfort zone. Followship! Are we willing to go and follow God to places we do not know? Are we willing to follow after God? Surrender is a good choice and then Followship is even better and comes naturally, as we become willing to be dependent on God first. Having a will “bucked up” in dependence on ourselves really messes with surrender and followship of God. We need to be willess in order to be able to surrender and follow after God. Willessness is our choice to lay down what we want for what God is wanting to do in us that is new and different to what we are used to. God’s ways are not always our ways, but one thing is for sure, no doubt about it, life experience always shows that God’s way, has an endgame that is so good for us, probably better than we could ever hope for or imagine. So, I say, give it a try, surrender and followship! First step, bow your heart before God in humble, reverence and bend your will into God’s Sovereign Sway, lean into God, surrendering what you want, and then go, go in followship of God and enjoy the God Adventure.
