The bright fireball, which was observed by US residents in the sky on the night of October 20, could be the Russian optical reconnaissance satellite Kosmos-2551, which went out of orbit for an unknown reason.
The corresponding opinion, based on telemetry data, was expressed by a number of American astrophysicists and space enthusiasts.
The Ministry of Defense and Roskosmos do not comment on the fate of the device, which was launched into orbit only on September 9.
