Hit And Run Lada Driver Hides Evidence By Burying Car In The Ground

A Lada driver suspected of killing a pedestrian in a hit and run accident has been arrested after he tried to hide the evidence by burying the car in the ground.

The 27-year-old driver, who has not been named, was arrested by cops after they unearthed the buried vehicle in the Russian city of Chelyabinsk, according to the statement made by the Main Directorate of the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Although the incident took place on 19th September, the statement on the suspect's arrest was first published on 19th October.

The news site Life reported that the suspect hit the 51-year-old male victim on the Troitsk highway, killing him at the scene.

The driver then fled the scene before the cops arrived and allegedly started planning how to dispose of the evidence - his car, which resulted in him deciding to bury his car with the hope that it would not be found.

Cops were able to track down the driver and eventually found the site where the car, an old soviet era Lada Priora, was hidden in a shallow ditch.

In the footage, the badly damaged Lada is seen half-buried as a digger unearths it piece by piece.

The driver was arrested and is currently being held in a detention centre.

The exact charges being brought against the suspect were not specified, but the news site Life said he could face up to 12 years in prison.

The investigation is ongoing.
